International Street Fair and Diversity Festival Wrap-Up

The City’s fourth-annual International Street Fair and Diversity Festival was host to over 40,000 individuals Saturday, October 7th. While the crowd was filled with residents and locals from our surrounding cities, we had festival-goers from as far away as Bakersfield enjoying all the diversity Artesia has to offer!

The Artesia Live I and II Stage was a true representation of the diversity that is Artesia. Attendees at the North end of Pioneer Blvd. were entertained throughout the day with performances by Japanese drummers, Nepalese folk dancers, and Indian classical dancers. In the evening, the crowd was delighted with performances by Chinese cultural performers, Hawaiian hulas, Mexican Folklorico dancers, and even a bagpiper.

At the South end, festival-goers enjoyed live-band performances on the 94.7 The Wave stage throughout the day. Almost all genres of music were represented with performances by the SOTO band, Chosen Gospel Group, soul group Lao Tizer & Band, Spanish rock group DUQUES, and even a little rock and funk by The 405’s. It was truly wonderful to see our Artesia residents and other attendees enjoy these performances.

Young children – and even some children at heart – tossed footballs, executed an obstacle course, and slid down giant slides in the Kid Zone. They also spent time at the petting zoo with llamas, rabbits, ponies, and goats. Later in the evening, our Parks and Recreation booth hosted a corn hole tournament that was definitely a fun event to watch.

We can’t forget about our amazing food vendors and merchants. Beautiful handmade items lined the vendor tents, drawing in shoppers of all ages. Throughout the day Pioneer Blvd. was consumed with the smell of delicious food being cooked fresh and made to order. Whether you were in the mood for traditional street tacos, kabobs, or lobster garlic noodles, or you were interested in sweet treats such as Mexican ice cream, fresh fruit smoothies, or kettle corn, our food vendors had it covered.

The City of Artesia would like to thank all of the individuals and families who walked from their homes or traveled from far away to attend this year’s event. Without you, the International Street Fair and Diversity Festival would not be a success.

We want to remind you that this event takes place every year on the first Saturday in October. If you’re interested in being a vendor at next year’s event, please contact Artesia City Hall at 562-865-6262 for more information. If you joined us this year, we hope to see you back. If you missed it, be sure to mark your calendar so you can join us next year for what promises to be an amazing day of celebrating the diversity that is Artesia.
