Although Artesia is quite a small city, going from corner to corner on feet is not a simple task for some adults and children, the only system in place only helps seniors and people with special needs which is great, but having a public transportation across the main streets of Artesia would definitely make life easier for all the residents. It may not be possible within the budget but I think if the City council really try, they could make a deal with Cerritos and their "COW' system could expand a little to serve this community, in turn both cities would benefit from potential customers to come and go to the city. Also this would allow for students not covered by the abcusd bus system (which is quite limited and restrictive) to have a better path-way other than cars, in turn dropping traffic and congestion. There are plenty of routs that "Slightly" pass trough Pioneer, but non that would commute residents within the city of Artesia and Cerritos.

I understand the Portuguese Hall is an important part of our community and support them. The noise level from the Hall is very disruptive to the home owners in the vicinity, especially at night and even more after midnight. The Lakewood Sheriffs says the Hall has special permission from the city. I am shocked that the city would sanction something so inconsiderate to the families that live near. My solution to the problem is simple, Live Bands play inside with doors closed to dampen noise level. To have a outdoor band blasting electric guitars and pounding drums is exactly what the residents of Artesia does NOT need. I ask the city Artesia to Limit the hours of noise the Hall is allowed to conduct to a reasonable hour. I propose 9am-9pm they can blast the music but after 9pm allow the families to have some peace and quite. Quality of Life would improve if you would make this happen.

As a parent of a child with a disability I would like to see the City of Artesia actively create opportunities for children and adults to participate within their community. Currently the Artesia Park program does not have one program designed for children with disabilities. There are no opportunities to participate on sports teams. It is long over due that the City to support and include people with Autism and other development disabilities.
Thank You,

Not only does Artesia need this proposed Metro Rail extension line, it needs to get this thing underway in spite of Cerritos' objections. Sometimes, as I have lived here since 1971, I wonder how these two cities incorporated separately in the first place given that when we moved in the whole thing was the same ZIP code; it's like night and day, in terms of the general mentality here. Not only does Cerritos not want Artesia to get a Metro Rail station, they're constantly talking about eliminating their own COW and Dial-a-Ride services so as to leave their own residents stranded and high and dry and forced to walk to the nearest "other" bus stop like an OCTA one or a Long Beach Transit one or a Norwalk Transit one or a Metro one, all of which add miles and miles to one's walk to the bus stop...especially carrying groceries...? Cerritos needs to be stopped. It's discrimination against the elderly and the disabled or Stroke victims.
