For the 2016-2017 school year, Cerritos Presbyterian Church and the City of Artesia has partnered to provide three (3) resident students with the opportunity to earn an educational scholarship. The Artesia Student Scholarship is currently offered to senior students who reside in the City of Artesia and are actively seeking plans to attend college in 2017.
The goal of the Artesia Student Scholarship is to make it easy and accessible for students to excel their educational opportunities with the skills and experience key for their future. The Artesia Student Scholarship is available to high-achieving high school seniors who desire to attend any college or university within the United States.
The Artesia Student Scholarship is designed to:
1. Identify the educational strengths and needs of students and the readiness of students to be promoted to the next level.
2. Assess how well educational goals and performance standards are met within the City of Artesia.
Applicants will have an opportunity to receive $1,000, and three (3) winners will be chosen. The application checklist will be reviewed and judged by two (2) staff members from Cerritos Presbyterian Church & two (2) City Council Members. Students are to submit their application no later than April 10, 2017. The winners will also be announced during the City Council Meeting on May 8 at 7:00pm. Winners will receive a certificate and the City of Artesia will send the money directly to the schools chosen by the winners.
