Melissa Ongko & Bayani Reyes were recognized at the April City Council meeting as 2017 Nominee’s for the County of Los Angeles Public Library's Youth Volunteer of the Year.
Melissa Ongko was nominated as the Youth Volunteer of the Year for the County of Los Angeles Public Library’s Youth Volunteer of the Year for 2017. Melissa has been a dedicated volunteer for the past six years, she began volunteering with the library when she was in the sixth grade and this year she will be graduating from High School. Melissa has spent her time volunteering at Artesia Library this past year by helping children with homework, maintaining information, keeping library shelves in order, creating displays, and preparing art activities for special programs.
Bayani Reyes was nominated by Artesia Library as the Adult Volunteer of the Year Nominee for the County of Los Angeles Public Library's Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2017. A newly retired US Postal Service worker, Bayani chose to fill his days by volunteering three days a week at the Artesia Library. Bayani has spent this past year at the library by helping children with homework, maintaining information, keeping library shelves in order, creating displays, and preparing art activities for special programs.
