NEWS UPDATE: Deadline for Beautification Award Nominations Extended to November 5th

Beautification Awards to Recognize Outstanding Property Maintenance Deadline for entries extended to November 5th!


The City of Artesia has extended the deadline for nomination entries for the Beautification Awards Program. Residents and business owners can be nominated for the outstanding maintenance of their property through Friday, November 5th.

With the support of the Beautification and Maintenance Commission, who promotes the City’s efforts to maintain Artesia as an attractive city, awards will be given to up to 15 community members who help beautify City neighborhoods. The Commission will judge and select the award recipients based on the category criteria. Category entries are as follows:

Residential Entry 

Sustainable Landscape Beautification Award: This award will recognize homes that exhibit exceptional pride of ownership through the use of water conservation practices as part of their landscaping design.  This includes the use of drought-tolerant or native plants, water-friendly irrigation systems, and energy-efficient or solar lighting.

Business Entries 

Storefront Beautification Award:  This award will recognize businesses that contribute to the overall beautification of the community by demonstrating exceptional pride of ownership through the outstanding maintenance of their property.  This includes an attractive façade, storefront, a clean and well-maintained exterior, and an attractive landscaping design.

Sustainable Landscape Beautification Award:  This award will recognize businesses that contribute to the overall beautification of the community by demonstrating exceptional pride of ownership through the use of water conservation practices as part of their landscaping design.  This includes the use of drought-tolerant or native plants, water-friendly irrigation systems, and energy-efficient or solar lighting.

Residents and business owners can self-nominate or nominate a neighbor. Entry forms must be completed online at www.cityofartesia.us and will require a digital photo with entry. Photos must be of good quality and showcase the qualities required to qualify under the entry category, and will be used for judging.  

All award recipients will be invited to a City Council meeting to be recognized. Award recipients under the residential category will receive a lawn sign to display on their property.  Businesses selected for an award, will receive a window decal or lawn sign. The City of Artesia plans to hold this program again in the Spring of 2022, and will add a “Landscape Beautification Award” for residential entries.
