The City of Artesia is partnering with the LA County Sheriff’s Department to offer a free Catalytic Converter Etching Event for Artesia residents. The event will be held on Friday, June 17th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Artesia Park, located at 18750 Clarkdale Avenue (Elaine Avenue parking lot).
Catalytic converter theft is one of the fastest rising crimes in California, and nationwide. Catalytic converters are a highly sought item by thieves due to their value in metals, the ease in which the part can be removed from a car, and the difficulty in tracing a particular part back to the owner.
During the event, members of the LA County Sheriff’s Department will etch identifiable information on catalytic converters, to provide a deterrent against theft. Etching this information on a catalytic converter also provides law enforcement valuable information to help prosecute thieves when a catalytic converter is stolen, and return it to its rightful owner.
This service will be provided for free to Artesia residents. The event is by appointment only. Participants will be required to provide proof of residency. Call City Hall at 562-865-6262 to schedule an appointment and pre-register your vehicle.
