The City of Artesia's Microenterprise and Small Business Grant Assistance Program has successfully disbursed all its grant funds to local businesses affected by COVID-19. In total, 40 businesses in Artesia received $10,000 each, totaling $400,000. Among these 40, four (4) were microenterprises, businesses having up to five employees including the owner, and 36 were small businesses with up to 15 employees. This program was made possible through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Coronavirus Response Rounds 1 and 2-3. These funds were used by businesses to cover expenses like rent, payroll, utilities, and supplies. This grant program helped the awarded businesses keep their doors open, maintain or expand their workforce, and provide important services and products to the community of Artesia.
