[ARCHIVED] Use of Illegal Fireworks Will Carry Fines

The sale of fireworks designated as “Safe and Sane” is allowed in Artesia to support the efforts of non-profit organizations. “Safe and Sane” fireworks can be discharged beginning June 28, and ending on July 4, from noon to 10 p.m. Any type of fireworks is prohibited from being discharged at City parks or any other City property.

"Safe and Sane" fireworks are the only types of fireworks allowed in the City of Artesia; all others are considered illegal. Those that choose to disobey the law will face a fine up to $2,000. Parents of minors discharging illegal fireworks will be held responsible.

Illegal fireworks can be reported by calling the Lakewood Sheriff's Station at 562-623-3500. Emergencies should be reported to 9-1-1.
