[ARCHIVED] Recycle trees after the holidays

Christmas tree

The tree that spruced up your home is probably drying. After you pack away your keepsake decorations, give your tree a new life with recycling! Holiday trees will be picked up at curbside for recycling for three weeks beginning December 26.

Trees will be picked up on your regular collection day by a different truck. Place the tree at the curb no earlier than noon on the day preceding y our regularly scheduled collection. The trees will be turned into compost, mulch, or ground cover. There is no extra charge for holiday tree collection during this special collection period.

Please remove all decorations, ornaments, lights, garlands, and tinsel, as well as the stand. If your tree is more than six feet tall, please cut it in half before placing it at the curb. When you set your tree at the curb, it should be bare. Flocked trees will be accepted.

If recycling the tree after the three-week period, please cut up the tree and place the pieces in to the green yard waste cart.
